Kevin Dunn

Kevin Dunn had a clear vision from the beginning of what he hoped the Palmetto Peloton Project would become. Having cancer survivors in his own immediate family Kevin wanted to see more clinical trials brought closer to home and found that possibility at our own Greenville Hospital System.

Besides being a key part of the logistics for P3 events, Kevin has ridden in 2 Ride to Cure Diabetes events, 2 Livestrong Challenge events, and the inaugural Challenge to Conquer Cancer (a P3 event). This year both Kevin and his wife, Sally drove support vehicles on the Challenge to Conquer Cancer, P3's relay ride from Greenville to Austin.

Kevin is the owner of a State Farm Insurance Agency in the West End of downtown Greenville. He is married to Sally (who is a cancer survivor) and has one daughter, Emily and two step-sons, Parker and Zac.

Lisa Barwick

Lisa is an avid road cyclist, enjoying both the recreational and competitive sides of cycling. Weekend cycling is a staple in her schedule and she competes in triathlons throughout the year with an occasional time trial or road race. She has served on the Board of the Greenville Spinners Cycling Club, participated on the Road Relations Coalition, and is currently a member of the GHS Every Woman Cycling Team. The GHS Every Woman Cycling Team is supportive of new cyclists and encouraging experienced woman cyclists to achieve their full potential.

As one of the co-founders Lisa has been a part of the Palmetto Peloton Project(P3) since the beginning. Meant to be a one-time cycling event in 2005, P3 soon became a 501c3 non-profit with multiple events. Lisa is passionate about the organization's mission and extremely proud of the organization's success.

Lisa has lived in the Upstate for nearly 13 years and considers Greenville her home. She is employed by Greenville Hospital System as a Human Resources Manager.

Ron Jerina

Ron participated in his first P3 ride in 2006, the year after his 61 year old father died from cancer. The ride inspired him to come back - and indeed he did. In 2007 he was the second highest fundraiser for the Stars and Stripes Challenge Ride and earned a trip to Austin, Texas for the Livestrong Challenge.

In Austin Ron and his wife, Jennifer were inspired by a group who rode their bikes from Calgary to Austin to participate in the LiveStrong Challenge. Ron was challenged by Kevin Dunn to organize such a relay from Greenville to Austin and the Challenge to Conquer Cancer was born, P3's second signature event. 2011 will mark the addition of a relay from Miami to Austin as a new P3 venture.

When not planning a ride, Ron enjoys his family. He and Jennifer have three very active boys, RJ (13), Reed (9) and Ridge (7) who all have followed in his footsteps with a love of cycling and triathlons. Ron has completed two Ironman Triathons (Louisville and Coeur d Alene) and loves being outside for any reason.

He has a deep commitment to the war on cancer.

Fred Tolley

As a multi-year rider in the Stars and Stripes Challenge, Fred has a passion for the mission and vision of P3. He truly enjoys participating in triathlons and as a member of the Anderson SV Riders puts in many road miles in preparation for charity events. Fred has participated in multiple half tri's and completed Iron Man Lake Placid.

When not on a bike, Fred's hobbies include basketball, hunting and fishing, and supporting his church. He is married to Sandi Tolly and has three children, Griff 14, Caroline 11, and Matt 6. Fred is a Senior Vice President with BB&T. He joined the P3 board because of his love of cycling and has developed a passion for the people touched by cancer. Fred has had close family and friends affected by cancer and knows that as a community, we must reach out to help find a cure.

Matt Kappel

Matt Kappel was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Disease in 1993. Three years later he was diagnosed with a brain tumor that was removed in Atlanta. As a survivor of cancer, Matt was always looking for an opportunity to volunteer and was particularly interested in cancer research when he learned about the Palmetto Peloton Project. Instantly he was hooked.

He signed up for the family ride in 2005 along with his wife. In fact, they pulled their new born twins on the route attached to his bike in a Chariot. And the rest is history. Competing in every Stars and Stripes Challenge since.

Matt volunteers for Angel Flight (angelflightsoars.org) which is an organization that utilizes private aircraft to transport cancer and burn patients to treatment centers.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Matt graduated from the College of Charleston and the University of South Carolina School of Law. He practices in Greenville, SC where he has lived for the past 12 years.
