Challenge to Conquer Cancer
OCTOBER 19-27, 2008Cross Country Relay Cycling Ride from Greenville, SC to Austin, TX. Each team of FIVE will ride in 6 hour increments 24 hours per day until they reach Austin. Riders are required to raise a minimum of $5,000 to participate. Support team members will also accompany the riders on this journey. Each support team member is asked to raise a minimum of $1,800. Ride will end at the LiveSTRONG Challenge, the signature event of The Lance Armstrong Foundation. This event is designed to honor and memorialize cancer survivors and cancer patients currently fighting their battle. Each team will ride for and in honor of a "Cancer Warrior“. Warriors are individuals currently undergoing or have recently completed treatment for cancer. It is our hope that the trip will bring a great sense of "normality" to the lives of these "Warriors". Cancer warriors will be flown to Austin to participate as much as he/she is able in the events of the LiveSTRONG Challenge. This event will support the research efforts of Oncology Research Institute and Clinical Research Unit of the Greenville Hospital System and Lance Armstrong Foundation. |
